Early Texarkana life revolved around the railroad—after all, the town was founded in 1873 at the junction of the Texas & Pacific Railroad and the Cairo & Fulton Railroad. The Lindsey Railroad Museum documents Texarkana’s 145-year-old relationship with the railroad system.
On the first floor, you’ll find model trains, railroad memorabilia, and a theater room. Head up to the second floor and you’ll see replicas of storefronts as they would have appeared on Broad Street in the 1890s. The museum is open Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm, but if you can’t make it then, don’t worry—weekday tours can be made by appointment.
