For a peek into the city’s past, check out Texarkana’s Old Town Museum, an indoor replica of Broad Street circa 1890. The museum depicts the old business district of downtown Texarkana, Arkansas, giving guests a glimpse into what life was like in the late nineteenth century.
Located at 202 E. Broad Street above the Lindsey Railroad Museum, Old Town features 11 recreated store fronts of shops that were open on Broad Street between 1890 and 1910. Visitors will see depictions of shops such as Booth Furniture, Chatfield-Buhrman Hardware Store, Ragland’s Cigar Shop and Texarkana National Bank, while learning about their history from costumed tour guides.
For a fun memento, guests can take a photo with Victorian backdrops and props at Josh Whealdon’s photography studio, which also displays original prints by the artist. The tour concludes at Cassidy’s Saloon, where guests can enjoy a refreshment.
Tickets are $10 per person and tours take place Fridays at 7:00pm and Saturdays at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm but must be scheduled in advance. Call 903-748-1235 to make reservations.
