If you’re looking for big events this spring, Texarkana is the place to be. Some of the big events taking place this spring include:

  • 8th Annual RailFest, May 11, 2019: Four States Fairgrounds. Bring your family or friends to this all-day event where you can enjoy tasty food, crafts and local vendors, contests, a kids play area, and an evening concert. That night, Dusty Rose will open for Austin-based singer, songwriter Parker McCollum. Admission to the daytime event is free but tickets are required for the concert.   • Talimena Motorcycle Rally - Cruisin’ for St. Jude, May 23, 2019 - May 25, 2019: Participate in this exciting event where you can enjoy two guided group rides, four meals, two bands, a rally t-shirt and more. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Research Hospital. Learn more about the rally and be sure to save the date!
  • Ratha Yatra Festival (Festival of Chariots), May 4, 2019: Hindu Temple. Texarkana presents Ratha Yatra, the Festival of Chariots, this May. The event will take place in Front Street Plaza and will attract visitors from near and far. There will be chariot pulling, kids activities, food, music, and a parade at this family-friendly event. Explore the history of Texarkana

If you don’t know much about Texarkana, there’s no time like the present to learn more about the city and its roots. Visit some of the historic sites, like the Municipal Auditorium where legends like Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley performed or the State Line Post Office and Courthouse -- the only post office in the country that sits in two states.

Get active at one of the many parks

When the weather starts warming up and the sun comes out, the first thing many of us want to do is get outside and soak up some Vitamin D. Texarkana, Arkansas, offers several parks and has lakes nearby, so you have plenty of places to get outside and get active before the heat of the summer takes over. Or on the second Saturday of each month, visit 1894 Market Trade Days, a monthly market at 1894 City Market where you’ll find local artists and other vendors.

Visit the farmers market

One of the best places to find local produce and other goods in Texarkana is the Gateway Farmers Market. The market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during the market season (typically beginning in May).
